Define Psychology. Describe the perspectives of Psychology.

 

Psychology:

Psychology is the scientific study of mind of the mind & behavior, According to the American psychological association. Psychology is a multifaceted discipline and includes many sub-fields of study such areas as human development, sports, Health, Clinical, Social behavior and cognitive process.

The perspectives of Psychology:

  1. Behaviorism: Behaviorism is primarily concerned with observable behavior, as opposed to internal events like thinking and emotion 
  2. Psycho-dynamic Approach: The psycho-dynamic approach includes all the theories in psychology that see human functioning based upon the interaction of drives and forces within the person, particularly unconscious, and between the different structures of the personality 
  3. Humanistic Approach: The humanistic approach is psychology developed as a rebellion against what some psychologist saw as the limitations of the behaviorist and psycho-dynamic psychology
  4.  Cognitive Psychology: Cognitive psychologist try to build up cognitive models of the information processing that goes on inside people’s minds, including perception, attention, language, memory, thinking, and consciousness. 
  5. Biological Approach: The biological approach believes us to be as a consequence of our genetics and physiology. It is the only approach in psychology that examines thoughts, feelings, and behaviors from a biological and thus physical point of view.
